Hazel the Jersey Cow:
In January 2007, we were able to fulfill a long-sought dream: we found
the perfect cow for our small family farm. Hazel was lovingly hand-raised
as a 4-H cow by a family in Corvalis, OR . In addition to providing us with
the most wonderful, creamy milk and nutrient-rich manure, she is sweet
natured and amusingly social - more like a big, brown dog than a cow!

Unlike many of her kin who live short but stressful lives in commercial
dairies, Hazel has spent her entire 6 years enjoying fresh air, open pasture,
plenty of sunshine and good food. In addition to grazing and crops from
the farm, Hazel enjoys the very best hay we can find plus a natural blend
of supplements and grain to keep her body in good condition.

Since we first saw Hazel, we've been happily working on improvements to
our farm that will enable us to get our Grade A dairy license. We've built
a cow-proof shelter, revamped our barn to include a dedicated milking
room, and built a milk processing kitchen. We strictly adhere to USDA
sanitary requirements for handling and processing milk because we want
our customers to be confident in the safety and superior nutritional value
of our dairy products.
